No one paid much attention to the urgent need to go to the bathroom. So when you smell something unusual it can be a real shock to you. There aren’t enough risk factors to explain it. If you know what weird smells are, you might ask, “Why does my pee smell bad?” Ask yourself that. You can always ask for what your body needs.
First of all, you probably already know this – urine doesn’t naturally smell good. According to UCLA urologist Stephanie Pannell, this occurs when waste items are filtered and eliminated from the blood by the kidneys. Food, humidity, and medicines are just a few of the variables that affect how horrible breath feels and what kind of breath it is.
To understand the technique, urine is made up of 5 percent waste products (ammonia, calcium, sodium, and urea) and 95 percent water. If the two are out of balance due to dehydration, you’ll have a strong odor. “When you’re dehydrated, urinary wastes like ammonia become concentrated and the urine smells bad,” says Daniel Garvey, MD, assistant professor and director of the urology program at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Explains.
If you don’t have other symptoms such as irritation or pain when urinating, frequent urges to go to the bathroom, or blood in the urine, don’t worry. In most cases, foul-smelling urine is not a sign of illness. But sometimes it can indicate diabetes, liver disease, kidney failure, kidney stones or urinary tract infection.
